As of October 2, 2025, Netflix has finalized the cast for its highly anticipated series adaptation of Edith Wharton's classic novel "The Age of Innocence." The streaming giant has added several notable actors to the show's ensemble, including Fiona Glascott, Belinda Bromilow, and Emma Shipp as series regulars.
Glascott, known for her roles in "Julia" and "Fantastic Beasts," will portray Augusta Welland, the maternal and traditional mother of the character May. Bromilow, who has appeared in "The Great" and "The Roses," will take on the role of Adeline Archer, Newland's independent and well-informed widow mother. Shipp, whose credits include "Rivals" and "What it Feels Like For a Girl," will play Janey Archer, Newland's unmarried sister who desperately wants to change her status.
In addition to the new series regulars, the show has also added several recurring cast members, including veteran actress Hayley Mills as the influential and regal Louisa Van Der Luyden, Ryan Morgan as Newland's snide yet sociable friend Lawrence Lefferts, and Will Tudor as the lofty and gossipy Sillerton Jackson.
The series, which is based on Wharton's classic novel of forbidden love in 19th-century New York, is set to explore themes of freedom, duty, identity, and love in all its forms. The official logline promises a "passionate and heart-rending will-they/won't-they love triangle" that will speak to a new generation of viewers.
