In November 2025, as Netflix celebrates its 10th year in Poland, the streaming giant has unveiled its most ambitious production from the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region to date - the disaster mini-series 'Heweliusz'. The show, estimated to be one of the biggest Polish TV productions ever, is based on the 1993 sinking of a Polish passenger ferry in the Baltic Sea, which resulted in the deaths of 55 people and is considered the deadliest peacetime maritime disaster involving a Polish ship.
