Heather Tilert, formerly Director of Preschool Series, has been elevated to the newly created position of VP of Kids & Family Series at Netflix. Since joining in 2018, Tilert has been instrumental in developing acclaimed preschool content. In her expanded role, she will now oversee programming strategy and development for preschool series, animation, and kids & family unscripted content. This strategic move by Netflix coincides with the streamer's recent announcement of new additions to its children's programming lineup. These include the upcoming preschool series 'Young MacDonald', renewals for fan favorites such as 'Trash Truck' and 'The Creature Cases', and confirmed release dates for 'Sesame Street' and 'Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie'. Furthermore, Netflix is preparing to launch 'Schooled!', a competition series from Mark Rober, and 'Motel Transylvania', a spin-off from the popular movie franchise.
Netflix is also investing in interactive experiences for young audiences with the upcoming launch of Playground, a new app designed for kids to engage with characters from shows like 'Peppa Pig' and 'Sesame Street'. Tilert's tenure has seen the successful introduction of creator-driven content, including partnerships with Ms. Rachel and Mark Rober, contributing to a slate that has garnered multiple Daytime Emmys, BAFTAs, and NAACP Image Awards. Her prior experience includes a significant role at Nickelodeon, where she contributed to 'The Wonder Pets!' and served as a development executive.
