Summary
- Netflix acquires Gujarati film 'Vash Level 2' and its Hindi version for ₹3.5 crores
- Highest price ever paid by an OTT platform for a Gujarati film
- 'Vash Level 2' well-received, belongs to popular supernatural genre

On October 22, 2025, the Gujarati film 'Vash Level 2' and its Hindi-dubbed version 'Vash Vivash Level 2' were released on Netflix, marking a significant milestone for the streaming giant. According to industry sources, Netflix has paid a whopping ₹3.50 crores for the digital rights of these two films, the highest price ever paid for a Gujarati film by an OTT platform.
The source explained that Netflix was willing to pay the record amount due to several factors. Firstly, 'Vash Level 2' is a well-made film that has been well-received by audiences. The makers also dubbed the film in Hindi, which allowed non-Gujarati viewers to enjoy the supernatural thriller. Additionally, the 'Vash' series has already gained popularity, with the first part being remade as the 2024 Hindi film 'Shaitaan' starring Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, and Jyothika.
Furthermore, 'Vash Level 2' recently won the Best Gujarati Feature Film Award and the Best Actress in a Supporting Role award for Janki Bodiwala at the 71st National Awards. Janki's performance in the film, as well as her role in the Hindi remake 'Shaitaan,' has also contributed to the increased interest in the franchise.
This landmark deal is a proud moment for the Gujarati film industry, as it demonstrates the growing recognition and value of regional cinema. Industry insiders believe that if 'Vash Level 2' receives sufficient viewership on Netflix, it will encourage the streaming platform and others to acquire the rights of other Gujarati films at attractive prices, further boosting the regional film ecosystem.
