New Laura Ingalls Honors Original Genius

Alice Halsey, the young star of Netflix's "Little House on the Prairie" adaptation, revealed her profound respect for the original 1974 NBC series and its creator, Michael Landon. Halsey, who was born after the original show concluded, expressed her love for the series after watching select episodes post-filming for season 1. She described Landon as a "genius" for his work on the beloved show.

Halsey also shared a heartwarming encounter with Melissa Gilbert, the original Laura Ingalls. Gilbert visited the Netflix set and offered her full support, which made Halsey feel embraced by the "Little House" world. The actress emphasized her commitment to honoring Laura Ingalls Wilder's legacy, feeling a significant responsibility to portray the remarkable woman accurately for viewers.

The Netflix series aims to be a faithful adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder's books, not a reboot. Halsey believes this new version will resonate with both existing fans of the books and the original NBC series, as well as a new generation of viewers. She hopes the show will be embraced as a continuation of the "Little House" universe, much like she enjoyed making it.
