Netflix is set to produce Scope, a new mystery action thriller from director Ray Mendoza and producer Jaume Collet-Serra. The narrative will follow a highly trained special forces operator dealing with a traumatic injury. Upon returning home to recuperate, the operator unexpectedly finds themselves embroiled in a perplexing suburban mystery.
This project marks another collaboration between Collet-Serra and Netflix, building on his existing creative partnership with the streamer. His recent directorial work for Netflix, the airport action-thriller Carry-On starring Taron Egerton, achieved significant viewership, becoming one of the platform's most popular films. Collet-Serra is also developing other projects with Netflix, including psychological thrillers and high-concept action films.
Ray Mendoza, a former Navy SEAL turned filmmaker, is co-directing. He previously co-wrote and directed the acclaimed drama Warfare. His recent directorial efforts include the Western drama Blood On the Promontory and work on television series like The Terminal List: Dark Wolf. The spec script for Scope was penned by Charley & Vlas Parlapanides and Scott Charnick.
