Netflix D&D Series: Ravenloft's Gothic Horror Arrives

A new live-action "Dungeons & Dragons" television series is currently in development at Netflix, focusing on the popular "Ravenloft" storyline. This series is envisioned as a prestige fantasy production, blending elements of gothic horror with tragic romance. The narrative will explore the Domains of Dread, redefining adventure through character-driven stories filled with dark magic and supernatural intrigue.

At its core, the "Ravenloft" series will chart the transformation of the vampire Darklord, Strahd von Zarovich. It will explore his origins, detailing his journey from a potentially tragic antihero to one of Dungeons & Dragons' most notorious villains, driven by power, obsession, and undead transformation. This development follows Netflix's decision to scrap a previously considered series based on the "Forgotten Realms" IP from the same franchise.
