Netflix is celebrating significant success with its original animated films. "Swapped," a Skydance Animation production starring Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple, has garnered 137 million views in the first half of 2026. This performance places it on track to become the streaming service's second most-watched original animated movie, following the phenomenon of "KPop Demon Hunters."
"KPop Demon Hunters," which debuted on June 20, 2025, has continued its impressive run, accumulating an additional 130 million views. The film previously became Netflix's most-watched original film and secured two Academy Awards, including best animated feature. This strong showing precedes a highly anticipated slate of new animated releases.
Looking ahead, Netflix is set to launch "Steps" on November 20, 2026, a fractured fairy tale directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa. Following that, Brad Bird's sci-fi noir, "Ray Gunn," from Skydance Animation, is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, after receiving a strong reception at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
