Originally produced by Istanbul-based Ay Yapim, Fatmagül first aired on Turkey's Kanal D channel. It has since achieved significant international success, with its sales arm distributing it to over 150 countries. The series was also adapted locally and remade in Spain and India.
The drama centers on a young woman from a disadvantaged family and her resilience in reconstructing her life after a devastating assault. The original Turkish broadcast consisted of two seasons, totaling 80 episodes. International distributors sometimes re-edited episodes, creating longer seasons than the original format.
