Neil Young Revisits Attic Ballad for New LP

Neil Young has unveiled a re-recorded version of his 1965 ballad, "Casting Me Away From You," for his forthcoming album, "Second Song." This track, initially conceived in a high school friend's attic, was previously revisited as an instrumental in 1968 and a lyrical snippet in 1976. The new recording accompanies a vintage video of Young on his California ranch.

The "Second Song" album, set for release on September 19, features a collection of new songs alongside older ones, including a re-recording of his 1964 track "I'll Love You Forever." Young described the album's unique blend as offering "reflection and juxtaposition."

Previously scheduled European tour dates with the Chrome Hearts were canceled in February, with Young citing a need for a break. His live appearances this year have been limited, with a notable exception being a set at David Suzuki's 90th birthday celebration in Vancouver on May 22. He is slated to perform two shows with Willie Nelson in September, preceding Farm Aid.

Notably, Neil Young will not perform at venues employing facial recognition surveillance technology, a stance recently communicated via the Neil Young Archives.
