Neil Young Gifts Greenland Free Music Access
28 Jan
Summary
- Neil Young offers free year-long access to his music catalog.
- The offer requires a Greenland-based cellphone for applicants.
- This is a peace offering amid political tensions affecting Greenland.
Veteran rocker Neil Young has announced an extraordinary gift for the people of Greenland: free access to his entire music catalog. This offer, intended to provide solace amid political tensions, is available for one year and may be renewed.
Young expressed his hope that his music and films would alleviate unwarranted stress experienced by Greenlanders. Applicants must possess a Greenland-based cellphone to receive this "offer of Peace and Love."
This gesture stands in contrast to Young's recent actions against streaming platforms. He previously removed his music from Amazon Music, citing concerns over its founder's support for a particular political figure. The artist has a history of advocating for audio quality and protesting content he disagrees with, as seen in past disputes with Spotify.
