Neighborhood Ends 8-Year Run: What's Next?
13 May
Summary
- The Neighborhood concluded its eight-season run on May 11, 2026.
- Rising production costs and salary demands reportedly ended the series.
- A Tracy Morgan spinoff, Crutch, premiered but is not renewed.

The hit CBS comedy "The Neighborhood" concluded its eight-season run on May 11, 2026. The series, which depicted a well-meaning Midwestern family integrating into a predominantly Black Los Angeles neighborhood, tackled themes of race and class throughout its tenure.
President of CBS Entertainment Amy Reisenbach stated that the show's "loyal fans deserve a proper farewell season." However, insights from star Cedric the Entertainer suggest that rising production costs and salary negotiations were the primary drivers for the series' conclusion.
"After eight seasons, everybody needed raises and that's when you knew, 'Alright this show is getting ready to be done,' " Cedric explained in April 2026. He also expressed a desire to explore more serious acting roles.
A spinoff titled "Crutch," starring Tracy Morgan as Calvin Butler's cousin, premiered on Paramount+ in November 2025. However, this series has not yet been renewed for a second season. Another planned spinoff focusing on characters Malcolm and Marty Butler was scrapped due to budget constraints.
Fans can stream all eight seasons of "The Neighborhood" on Paramount+.
