K-Pop Star Johnny's Naked Truth: Sauna Culture Shock
18 Sep
Summary
- Johnny finds Korean sauna culture unfamiliar despite living in Seoul.
- He prefers keeping clothes on and a comfortable room temperature.
- Communal bathing in Jjimjil-bangs involves separate nude bathhouses.

NCT 127's Johnny shared on his new podcast, 'Journey with Johnny,' that the Korean custom of visiting communal saunas, or Jjimjil-bangs, is something he struggles to embrace. As someone who grew up in Chicago and later moved to Seoul, Johnny finds the practice of communal bathing surprising, even after years in Korea.
He explained that while Koreans often visit saunas from a young age with family and later with friends, he feels uncomfortable with the idea of seeing his friends naked. Although Johnny recognizes that Jjimjil-bangs serve as a valuable social space for Koreans to bond and sweat, he personally prefers to socialize in environments with room temperatures and while fully clothed.
