Actor Sudhanshu Pandey is spearheading a renewed campaign for a national awards platform specifically for Indian television. He first conceived this idea in 2021, motivated by the extensive work and dedication observed in daily soap opera production during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pandey's research revealed that Indian television is the nation's largest entertainment industry by revenue, encompassing regional languages and generating substantial employment. He believes it is high time for this significant contribution to be formally recognized at a national level.
Following a temporary pause due to professional commitments, Pandey has resumed efforts, engaging in meetings with government officials in Delhi. He emphasizes the urgency and importance of establishing these awards much earlier, noting that the process is currently underway.
