The Naples International Film Festival, a highly regarded regional event, has unveiled its lineup for the 17th edition, set to take place from October 23-26 in the town on Florida's Gulf coast. The festival, a program of the multidisciplinary arts organization Artis-Naples, has selected 60 international fiction and nonfiction films from over 1,000 submissions.
The diverse program includes 5 world premieres and 1 U.S. premiere, with more than $15,000 in prize money to be awarded to juried and audience prize winners across various categories. Standout films include the directorial debut of actress-filmmaker Isabel Hagen, 'On a String,' and the documentary 'Apollo 1' by Mark Craig, which looks back at the tragic 1967 launch pad fire that killed three astronauts in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
The festival will close on October 26 with a special screening of the beloved 1987 adventure comedy 'The Princess Bride,' directed by Rob Reiner. This screening will feature a live performance of the film's score by the Naples Philharmonic, conducted by Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly, offering audiences a unique cinematic experience.
