Naomi Watts: Hollywood Ageism Fades

Naomi Watts, who launched her acting career in Hollywood at age 30 with 'Mulholland Drive,' shared her perspective on ageism in the industry. She recalled being advised her career would end by age 40, but now in her late 50s, she observes a positive shift.

Watts highlighted recent award ceremonies where numerous women over 50 were recognized in major categories. She believes this change is crucial because women are significant consumers of film and television, and their stories deserve to be reflected on screen.

Currently attending the San Sebastián Film Festival to receive an honorary Donostia Award, Watts is also promoting her new film, 'The Housewife.' The movie, set in 1964, stars Watts as Hermine, whose seemingly normal life unravels when a journalist investigates her husband's potential hidden past.

Watts described the role as a challenging "mind twister," drawn to the compelling storyline based on true events. She also expressed a long-standing desire to work with director Paul Thomas Anderson.
