An online auction will feature three lots of works by the renowned artist Nandalal Bose, with all pieces appearing for the first time. The first lot is an untitled 1943 watercolour on canvas depicting Shiva drinking poison, a piece designated as a National Art Treasure. This artwork, valued at an estimated Rs 2-3 crore, exemplifies Bose's spiritual lyricism.
The second lot comprises 24 handwritten letters exchanged with artist Indra Dugar between 1935 and 1959, along with seven envelopes and one autographed photograph. These documents offer a glimpse into artistic dialogues and mentorship within the Santiniketan art scene.
The third lot includes a 1953 watercolour landscape that showcases Bose's connection to nature and his mastery of line and tonal restraint. Both the lot of correspondences and the landscape are individually estimated to fetch between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh.
