Summary

- Trolls targeted Namita and her mother for the controversial Reel.
- She invoked karma and Hinduism to address the online backlash.

Shark Tank India personality Namita Thapar has recently found herself at the center of a controversy due to a viral Instagram Reel. In the video, she discussed the health benefits of Namaz, which subsequently led to widespread online criticism directed at her and her mother.
Thapar shared on April 20, 2026, that for the past three weeks, she has endured relentless online hatred. She highlighted that her mother has also been targeted with derogatory remarks. Thapar questioned this backlash, contrasting it with the lack of similar criticism when she posted Reels about Hindu religious practices and their health benefits.
In response to the trolls, Thapar stated, "I am a healthcare professional. I was taught that 'R' in religion stands for respect." She questioned the disrespect shown towards two women and pointed out the silence surrounding such incidents compared to public discourse on other issues. She emphasized the importance of speaking up for oneself and for what is right.
Thapar also invoked the Hindu concept of karma in a message to her detractors, advising them to "proceed at your own discretion, because God is watching." She clarified that her intention in making the Reel was to encourage proud Indians to speak out against any perceived wrongdoing, out of humanity and patriotism, rather than to personally address the trolling, which she has become accustomed to over the past five years.
