The 27th Lekhika Natya Mahotsav, a prominent theatre festival in Nagpur, opened on a poignant note on November 1, 2025. The festival kicked off with a captivating performance of the play 'Ratnavali', written and directed by Rujuta Manohar, who also played the lead role. The drama beautifully portrayed the emotional journey of a woman writer, Ratna, as she battled societal and familial constraints to reclaim her passion for storytelling.
During the inaugural ceremony, veteran theatre artist Shubhada Sawdekar was felicitated by the Padmagandha Sahitya Pratishthan for her remarkable contributions to Marathi theatre. The event was attended by notable theatre personalities, including Prabha Deoskar, Sangita Waikar, Shubhangi Gaan, Pravin Rajvaidya, and Bhaskar Patil.
The festival also featured other plays that celebrated women's creative voices in theatre. On November 2, the play 'Shikar' by Urmila Deshpande and directed by Prabha Deoskar, as well as 'Zindagi Dhoop Tum Ghana Saya', were staged, further highlighting the festival's commitment to showcasing the talents of women dramatists.
