The main event of Nagpur's venerable Marbat festival, a tradition spanning 145 years, is scheduled for Friday at Gandhi Putla Chowk, commencing at noon. This significant cultural gathering is set to host a distinguished array of guests. Special viewing arrangements have been made for foreign delegates, with invitations extended to consuls general and representatives from France, Italy, Finland, and Norway.
Prominent Indian figures expected to attend include Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and minister of state Ashish Jaiswal. Actor Jackie Shroff, filmmaker Subhash Ghai, and cricketer Umesh Yadav are also among the anticipated dignitaries.
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has meticulously organized the event to present the festival to a national and international audience. This includes the erection of welcome gates, decoration of the festival route, and the establishment of welcome stages at key locations such as Kumbharpura Chowk, Golibar Chowk, and Gandhi Putla Chowk.
Complementing the main festivities, the NMC, in collaboration with the Orange City Photographers Club, hosted a photography exhibition. This exhibition at Suresh Bhat Auditorium featured rare and contemporary images, illustrating the evolution of the Marbat festival.
