Maharashtra's tableau secured the first prize at this year's Republic Day parade, with Nagpur's Gajavakra troupe delivering a standout dhol-tasha performance. The troupe's vibrant display alongside the tableau emphasized the significance of the Ganesh festival, drawing in spectators with powerful rhythmic beats.
This presentation marked a significant moment as it was the first-ever dhol-tasha performance on Kartavya Path. The 35 artists showcased Marathi culture to dignitaries from India and abroad, bringing special national recognition to Nagpur for highlighting the state's heritage.
Troupe head Pratik Chambole shared that the 35-member group underwent 20 days of intensive practice in Delhi. They expressed happiness with the excellent outcome, crediting guidance from shehnai player Lokesh Anand and support from South Central Zone Cultural Centre director Astha Karlekar and Nilesh Kanhede for their success.
