My Morning Jacket inks new publishing deal

My Morning Jacket has officially signed a new publishing deal with Peermusic. This significant agreement ensures that all future musical releases from the acclaimed band will be covered by the publisher. Additionally, the deal extends to the solo endeavors of frontman Jim James, including his forthcoming project titled Wowed Out, which is set to be released by ATO Records on August 28. This partnership signifies a continuation of a strong, decade-spanning professional relationship between the band and Jamie Cerreta, the president of U.S. and Canada for Peermusic.

Cerreta, who has a long history with James and My Morning Jacket, began working with them in 2002. His career has since included roles at Chrysalis and Big Deal Music, which later became part of Hipgnosis Songs Group, before his move to Peermusic in August 2025. Both James and Cerreta expressed enthusiasm about their continued collaboration. James highlighted the "incredible musical connection and friendship" he shares with Cerreta, viewing him as a crucial guide and protector of his music. Cerreta echoed these sentiments, calling it an "honor" to represent James' songwriting and expressing thrill about the band joining Peermusic.

My Morning Jacket, a five-piece band consisting of Jim James (vocals, guitar), Tom Blankenship (bass), Patrick Hallahan (drums), Carl Broemel (guitar), and Bo Koster (keys), has established itself as a prominent independent rock group over the past 25 years. They have released 12 albums that have charted on the Billboard 200, with "Circuital" reaching No. 5 in 2011. Their 2025 album also produced two No. 1 Adult Alternative Airplay hits.
