UK Woman's 4,550 My Little Pony Toys Earn World Record

Miranda Worby, a British collector, has officially set a Guinness World Record for possessing the largest collection of My Little Pony memorabilia, numbering an impressive 4,550 items. This extraordinary collection originated from a childhood desire for a real horse, which was instead fulfilled by the colourful toy ponies.

Worby's fascination began at age four with a pink pony named Snowflake, a piece she still owns. Her collection expanded significantly beyond just the toys over several decades. It now encompasses a wide array of merchandise, including backpacks, mugs, clothing, and makeup.

By 2018, the sheer volume of her collection necessitated a move to a larger home in Lowestoft, Suffolk, to accommodate the growing assortment. Despite dedicating an entire room and having comparable amounts in storage, space became a significant challenge, though Worby remained dedicated to acquiring more items.

Among her most unique acquisitions is a rare 1990s My Little Pony arcade ride, which presented logistical challenges during transport. This acquisition highlights the breadth of her enthusiasm, extending to larger franchise-related pieces.

Key items in her collection include the Megan and Sundance figure set, a cherished birthday gift, and a rare pony named Fireball, believed to be one of only two in existence. Worby also notes that the figures retain their distinct smells, a sensory detail that inspired her social media handle, @sniffingplasticponies.

The record-breaking collection is still growing, with Worby actively searching for a specific Generation One pony named Bon Bon. She believes the franchise's enduring popularity stems from its nostalgic appeal and its ability to connect generations, fostering friendships among fellow collectors.
