The film, recognized by the Indian Panorama and screened internationally, holds significant artistic value.
"Anjuman" uniquely features Shabana Azmi singing her own playback songs, composed by Khayyam with lyrics by Shahryar and Faiz Ahmed Faiz. The movie sensitively portrays the skilled women artisans of Lucknow engaged in chikankari, exposing the socio-economic exploitation they faced despite their intricate craftsmanship.
Director Ali expressed his gratitude for NFDC-NFAI's preservation efforts, likening it to a "breath of fresh air" for fragile celluloid. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives for future generations to experience cinematic art. The National Film Development Corporation highlighted this donation as a crucial step in preserving film heritage, appealing for more industry contributions.
