A new thriller from Paul Doiron, titled "Cold Front," is set to be released in June 2027. The novel's protagonist, game warden Mike Bowditch, investigates a disturbing crime scene within Acadia National Park. He finds a murder victim, Bogdan, bound to a tree with a bullet wound, a stark contrast to his seemingly peaceful family life.
Bowditch's investigation unearths Bogdan's hidden past, revealing he fled the Soviet Union with dangerous enemies pursuing him. This discovery places Bowditch in peril, evading FBI agents and a new enigmatic figure. The stakes escalate dramatically when the victim's wife and son become targets, intensifying the mystery and danger.
Doiron, an Edgar Award-nominated author, chose Acadia National Park for its iconic status and as a federal land where Bowditch, a state game warden, rarely operates. The author aimed to explore hidden darkness within a place known for its beauty and safety, setting the stage for a compelling mystery.
The novel delves into the consequences of uncovering buried secrets, whether personal or governmental. "Cold Front" explores what happens when individuals persist in seeking truths that others wish to remain hidden. The book is scheduled for publication on June 22, 2027.
