In a candid interview, veteran actress Mumtaz revisited her rumored relationship with Shammi Kapoor when she was just 17. She expressed deep affection for Kapoor, acknowledging the age difference and her desire to establish her acting career as reasons they couldn't marry.

Mumtaz recalled how Kapoor's family had strict rules against wives working in films, a factor that influenced her decision. She stated that Kapoor eventually married Neila Devi, whom she praised as a perfect match.

She then discussed her marriage to Mayur Madhvani in 1974, whom she had known since childhood. Mumtaz revealed that her husband confessed to an extramarital affair in the US, but their commitment to their marriage ultimately prevailed.
