MSG: From Monroe's song to Swift's wedding bells?

Madison Square Garden, often called the World's Most Famous Arena, has been the backdrop for countless historic events. In May 1962, Marilyn Monroe delivered a memorable "Happy Birthday" performance for President John F. Kennedy. Her shimmering gown from that night later sold for millions and was notably worn by Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala in 2022.

Music history was made when John Lennon performed his final concert at MSG in August 1972. He later joined Elton John on stage for a performance that marked Lennon's last live concert appearance before his death in December 1980.

Sports fans have also experienced iconic victories at the venue. The New York Knicks secured their first NBA Championship title in game seven of the 1970 NBA Finals. Decades later, in 1994, the New York Rangers ended a 54-year drought by winning the Stanley Cup at MSG.

MSG has also hosted significant personal milestones. Sly Stone and Kathy Silva became the first couple to marry at the venue in June 1974, during one of his concerts, witnessed by over 20,000 fans. Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier famously clashed in the "Fight of the Century" in March 1971, a heavyweight bout that resulted in Ali's first professional loss.

Elvis Presley held his only New York City concerts at MSG in June 1972, selling out four consecutive shows and releasing an album titled "Elvis as Recorded at Madison Square Garden." More recently, Billy Joel broke the record for most performances at the venue in July 2015 and concluded his 10-year residency in July 2024 with his 150th show.
