Motsi Mabuse: Second-hand is the new luxury

Motsi Mabuse, a familiar face on Strictly Come Dancing, has shared her journey into the world of second-hand shopping. Nearly two decades ago, Mabuse aspired to own a classic Chanel handbag but found it financially out of reach. Recently, she fulfilled this dream by purchasing a vintage Chanel bag through a pre-owned marketplace, finding the cost more manageable.

This experience motivated Mabuse, who is based in Germany, to front a new Prime Video show, 'Live Better for Less.' Collaborating with the Vinted app, the series aims to educate viewers on economical shopping strategies and the benefits of selling unneeded possessions. Mabuse's involvement extended to helping a couple adjust their spending habits and encouraging a decluttering of her own household, which she found led to emotional clearing and stress reduction.

Mabuse, who joined Strictly in 2019, also expressed excitement about the show's new hosts: Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe. She highlighted her comfort with expressing her opinions, including her fashion choices on screen, attributing this newfound confidence to reaching her forties and experiencing perimenopause. She also noted her commitment to re-wearing outfits, citing Princess Catherine as an example.

Health-wise, Mabuse has focused on her well-being after a doctor warned her about diabetes risk 18 months ago. While maintaining exercise, she finds dietary control challenging during filming, especially with readily available treats. She has adapted her backstage requests to include healthier options like berries, aiming to balance her diet before stress levels rise.
