MonsterVerse Timeline Decoded: Monarch S2 Dates Revealed

The precise placement of "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" within the MonsterVerse timeline has been confirmed. Season 2's modern-day narrative will unfold in 2017, immediately following the events of season 1 and the 2014 "Godzilla" film. This ensures continuity before "Godzilla: King of the Monsters." The series' flashbacks are set to take place in 1957, offering a deeper dive into the past than the previous season's segments.

This clarification helps navigate the franchise's often-convoluted chronology. While earlier MonsterVerse installments like "Kong: Skull Island" are set in 1973, and animated spin-offs explore the early 1990s, "Monarch"'s flashbacks now represent the earliest chronological events. Recent films and upcoming features continue to push the timeline forward.

"Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV on February 27, 2026. This new season promises higher stakes, featuring a new monster that challenges both Godzilla and Kong, further expanding the epic narrative.
