In October 2025, MGM+ announced the development of a new prequel series in the 'Bosch' franchise, titled 'Bosch: Start of Watch'. The series will take viewers back to 1991 Los Angeles, exploring the early days of Harry Bosch's career as a rookie LAPD cop.
Cameron Monaghan, known for his role in 'Shameless', will portray the young Bosch, while Omari Hardwick, star of 'Power', will play his training officer, Eli Bridges. The series is co-created by the team behind 'Bosch: Legacy', with Michael Connelly, the author of the original 'Bosch' novels, serving as an executive producer.
'Bosch: Start of Watch' will delve into a city on the edge, teeming with racial tension, gang violence, and a fractured LAPD. As Bosch navigates routine calls and growing unrest, he finds himself drawn into a high-profile heist and a web of criminal corruption that will test his loyalty to the badge and shape his future as the detective who lives by the code, "Everybody counts or nobody counts."
The prequel series is set to premiere on MGM+ in the U.S., UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, Latin America, Belgium, and the Netherlands, providing fans with a deeper understanding of the iconic character's origins.
