Naslen's Quest: Saving Malayalam Cinema?

The teaser for the forthcoming Malayalam drama, 'Mollywood Times,' has arrived, offering a glimpse into filmmaking aspirations with a unique blend of horror and cinematic references. The film centers on Naslen's character, a young man driven by a desire to become Mollywood's premier horror filmmaker. Directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak, the movie appears to merge comedy with a meta-commentary on ambition and the film industry.

The teaser opens with a nod to M. Night Shyamalan, highlighting the director's Kerala connection. It depicts a childhood dream of filmmaking, initially dismissed as too ambitious for the local industry, which persists into adulthood. A dramatic declaration from Naslen's character, echoing a scene from 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,' signals a bold intent to impact Malayalam cinema.

Written by Ramu Sun, 'Mollywood Times' also features Sangeeth Prathap and Sharaf U Dheen, reuniting Naslen and Sangeeth following their success in 'Premalu.' The supporting cast includes Prashanth Alexander, Chandu Salimkumar, and Rajesh Madhavan. The film is produced by Ashiq Usman and is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on June 5.
