Mollywood Star Anumol Reflects on Her Memorable 'Yakshi' Character in Akam

In October 2025, Mollywood actress Anumol found herself reminiscing her past 'Yakshi' role in the 2013 psychological thriller Akam. Anumol's Instagram post, shared just a few days ago, was prompted by the recent success of the film Lokah, which features a 'Yakshi' character portrayed by Kalyani Priyadarshan.

Anumol's post, which included a photograph from Akam, sparked a wave of nostalgia among her fans. Many commented on the 'cute' and 'charming' nature of Anumol's 'Yakshi' character, Ragini, a role that the actress had described as being 'close to her heart.'

The interaction between Anumol's past 'Yakshi' role and the current popularity of the character in Lokah did not go unnoticed. Santhy Balachandran, the writer of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, responded to Anumol's post with a 'heart eyes' emoticon, acknowledging the shared connection between the two 'Yakshi' portrayals.

Akam, directed by Shalini Usha Nair, was based on Malayattoor Ramakrishnan's novel Yakshi and featured Fahadh Faasil in the lead role alongside Anumol. While the film was a fresh take on the classic story, it failed to achieve significant box office success or a prolonged theatrical run.

In contrast, Lokah has emerged as an all-time blockbuster, having collected over ₹300.33 crores worldwide in just 42 days, with the India net collections standing at ₹154.59 crores and the overseas collections at ₹119.3 crores.
