Director's Dramatic Rejection: A Star's True Self Emerges

Director Mohit Suri recently discussed the immense success of his 2025 film 'Saiyaara,' which marked the debut of actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. Suri admitted that he almost didn't cast Panday, having rejected him after multiple meetings. He described Panday initially as a sweet, soft boy, not fitting the character.

However, a pivotal moment occurred when Suri honestly informed Panday of the rejection over dinner. This directness caused Panday to drop his pretense, and Suri witnessed his true personality emerge. This authentic connection apparently resonated with the film's narrative.

'Saiyaara' tells the story of a girl diagnosed with a memory ailment and a struggling musician who form a deep bond. The film proved to be a massive box office hit, earning approximately ₹579 crore against a budget of ₹35 crore to ₹50 crore.

Suri also shared a personal connection with Panday, revealing his father and Panday's father were friends when Suri was around his current age. He knew of Panday even before his birth, highlighting a long-standing familial link.
