Mogwai, the acclaimed Scottish post-rock band, recently celebrated their 30th anniversary with a distinctive performance at the Sydney Opera House for Vivid LIVE. Formed in Glasgow in 1995, the quartet has consistently maintained a fiercely independent ethos throughout their career.
The band operates its own independent label, Rock Action Records, established in the mid-1990s, which releases music for Mogwai and a diverse roster of other artists. For North American distribution, they partner with Brooklyn-based Temporary Residence.
A notable career achievement for Mogwai was securing their first-ever No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart in February 2021 with their tenth studio LP, 'As The Love Continues.' This success was a significant milestone, surpassing previous top 40 appearances.
The band's anniversary tour includes festival appearances across the U.K., Europe, and Japan's Fuji Rock. Frontman Stuart Braithwaite expressed gratitude for the continued audience support, noting the presence of younger generations discovering their music.
