Modest Mouse is set to release An Eraser and a Maze, their first independent album in over two decades, on June 5. This new LP will be distributed through frontman Isaac Brock's Glacial Pace Recordings, marking their departure from Epic Records after more than twenty years. The album follows their 2021 release, The Golden Casket.
The band has shared "Picking Dragons' Pockets" as the latest single, with "Look How Far" having premiered in March. Initially envisioned as an EP for Brock's side project Ugly Casanova, the collection of songs evolved into Modest Mouse's eighth studio album. Brock described the creative process as "turning off my filter and just letting it all happen."
Coinciding with the album's release, Modest Mouse will commence an extensive North American tour. This follows their recent February venture, the Modest Mouse Presents Ice Cream Floats cruise fest.
