The cast and creatives behind Paramount+'s hit series "MobLand" gathered in London for the Season 2 premiere, marking a reunion after significant behind-the-scenes challenges. Leading actors Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, who portray the crime couple Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, joined Tom Hardy, who plays fixer Harry Da Souza, on the black carpet.
Executive producer David Glasser addressed earlier reports of friction with Hardy, even calling him "the captain of our ship." He highlighted Hardy's pivotal role in bringing the show to fruition for both Season 1 and Season 2. Director Guy Ritchie also lauded the cast, describing them as "magnificent" and "monsters of creativity," specifically praising Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
Mirren teased the new season as "madder, badder, better," describing it as chaotic, cool, and frighteningly funny. Brosnan added that the season features "very mangled, very strange" characters with human frailties. Both actors praised writer Jez Butterworth for providing "incredible material" with a "beautiful poetry."
Glasser recounted pitching the show to Ritchie at his country home, an offer accepted immediately. He revealed that significant plot development, including bringing in writer Jez Butterworth, occurred just eight weeks before Season 1 production began due to ongoing uncertainty about the show's direction involving Hardy, Ritchie, and Glasser.
Despite reports of Hardy's departure due to "creative differences" with Butterworth and Glasser, these issues were resolved, paving the way for his return. Paramount+ officially confirmed Hardy's comeback as Harry Da Souza for Season 2 and an upcoming Season 3, which is set to commence filming later this year.
