Mithun Chakraborty: Denied Bengal Film Fest Invite?

Actor Mithun Chakraborty has expressed his dismay at not being invited to the Bengal Film Festival. He met with West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to discuss the centenary celebrations of Uttam Kumar.

Chakraborty, affectionately known as 'Mahaguru,' humorously suggested that the lack of invitation might be due to being perceived as a 'small artist.' He observed that individuals from outside Bengal with no connection to the state were invited, while local artists were overlooked.

With a career spanning over fifteen years, Chakraborty has starred in 350 films and received significant accolades, including three National Film Awards and the Padma Bhushan in January 2024. He is also a former Member of Parliament, having represented Rajya Sabha for the Trinamool Congress before resigning in 2016.

Currently, the 76-year-old actor is recovering well from a minor surgery performed recently in a private hospital in Kolkata. He is expected to be discharged soon.
