Summary
- Missy Elliott working on new music, plans to experiment
- Hoping to revive her "Out of This World" arena tour from 2024
- Reveals the story behind the making of "Get Ur Freak On"

In a recent interview, legendary artist Missy Elliott revealed that she is currently working on new music, marking her first studio activity since the 2019 EP Iconology. Elliott says she is feeling "experimental" and has "something in the works" that she describes as "fire."
The news comes as Elliott's 2001 hit "Get Ur Freak On" was just named the greatest song of the 21st century so far by Rolling Stone magazine. Elliott is "super-excited and thankful" about the recognition, and she also discussed the creative process behind the track, including how producer Timbaland's initial reluctance led to the song's iconic chant-like hook.
Additionally, Elliott is hoping to soon revive her "Out of This World" arena tour, which she launched in 2024 for her first-ever headlining run. She says, "Hopefully the spaceship will go back out again," referring to the elaborate stage production. The 30-date tour was a major success, and Elliott is eager to take the show on the road once more.
