Minka Kelly, star of the Netflix series Ransom Canyon, shared that she attempted to bring her boyfriend, Dan Reynolds, back for the second season. Reynolds, the frontman for Imagine Dragons, had previously appeared in season 1 as cattle buyer Billy Brinks. Kelly explained they explored options to reintroduce his character, even suggesting a storyline involving a love triangle with Billy Brinks.

However, Reynolds was ultimately unavailable to film due to his demanding schedule with Imagine Dragons. Kelly, who has been dating Reynolds since 2022, described him as "easy to love" and a "good sport" for his willingness to consider the role. Reynolds himself admitted to being nervous during his season 1 appearance, finding the acting environment different from his music career.

Ransom Canyon season 2, which premiered on Thursday, July 23, delves into Kelly's character, Quinn's, return to Ransom Canyon after six months in New York. Upon her return, she finds her longtime love, Staten, has changed significantly. This complicates her situation, especially with the presence of her East Coast boyfriend, Oliver. The series explores Quinn's journey as she tries to reconcile past relationships with new connections and the difficult decisions that arise.
