Minions conquer Hollywood in new film

The beloved Minions are set to embark on a wild Hollywood adventure in "Minions & Monsters," scheduled for release on July 1, 2026. This new film expands the lucrative "Despicable Me" franchise, adding to the seven installments already released, including the recent "Despicable Me 4" in 2024 and "Minions: The Rise of Gru" in 2022. Directed by Pierre Coffin, a longtime voice of the Minions, the movie promises a "rambunctious, ridiculous" story.

"Minions & Monsters" features an impressive ensemble voice cast, including newcomers Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, and Trey Parker, who previously voiced Balthazar Bratt. The film's synopsis reveals a tale of the Minions conquering Hollywood, achieving stardom, losing it all, and then facing the chaotic consequences of unleashing monsters upon the world. They must then band together to save the planet from the mayhem they created.

Producers Chris Meledandri and Bill Ryan have highlighted the film's "subversive spirit" and "comedic mayhem," emphasizing its artistic direction and unexpected, delightful story. This installment also serves as a tribute to cinema and the comedians who inspired these animated characters. The "Despicable Me" franchise has already achieved remarkable success, grossing more than $5.6 billion worldwide, making "Minions & Monsters" anticipated as another significant box office hit.
