The South Downs National Park's annual astro-photography competition has concluded with Michael Harris securing the top prize for his stunning image, "Ancient Light." This photograph beautifully captures the Milky Way arching over an abandoned barn in Balsdean Valley, near Brighton. The contest was held to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the park's designation as an International Dark Sky Reserve, an achievement celebrated for its exceptional night sky quality.
Further celebrating the nocturnal wonders, Richard Murray's "Snail Trail to the Stars" earned accolades in the Life at Night category. His image uniquely features a snail positioned beneath the Plough asterism.
