Legendary Director Leigh Hints Final Film Is Tender Loving Care

Legendary filmmaker Mike Leigh, aged 83, has announced that his upcoming film, Tender Loving Care, is very likely to be his last. Leigh shared this sentiment during a recent Golden Globes-hosted roundtable, where he discussed the drama set to premiere this fall festival season. He explained that his health condition, myositis, which causes chronic muscle inflammation, makes future filmmaking endeavors "very difficult" and "not going to be possible."

Tender Loving Care, described as an "insightful exploration of the contemporary world," stars Marion Bailey and Kate O'Flynn. The film is slated for its Canadian premiere at the Toronto film festival, with a predicted world premiere at the Telluride film festival beforehand. Leigh expressed gratitude for the assistance he received during the making of this last film, noting that physical demands make stage productions even more challenging than filmmaking where he can be moved around.
