French sister companies The Jokers Films and Logical Pictures International (LPI) have jointly acquired Michel Gondry's upcoming film, Little Fears. The Jokers Films, a distributor whose slate includes Berlinale title A Prayer for The Dying, will oversee the French release. Meanwhile, LPI, the newly formed international sales arm of Logical Pictures Group, will introduce the production to buyers at the EFM.
This joint acquisition by Logical Pictures Group's subsidiaries is a prime example of the synergies the company aims to create. Little Fears, first announced last summer, marks Gondry's return to narrative features after his recent animated works. The film is described as a dark tale imbued with surrealist poetry, seen through the eyes of its young protagonists.
Little Fears follows two girls, Julia and Nina, whose peaceful village life is shattered when they unearth a human skull in their garden. This discovery fuels rumors, fear, and suspicion, fundamentally altering their perception of their surroundings. Gondry aims for viewers to recall their own childhood innocence through the heroines' perspective.
The adult cast for Little Fears includes Gilles Lellouche, Bastien Bouillon, and Valérie Donzelli. The deal strengthens Logical Pictures Group's existing relationship with Gondry and his longtime producer Georges Bermann at Partizan.
