Jaafar Jackson Embodies Uncle Michael in New Biopic

The highly anticipated biopic 'Michael,' chronicling the early career of the pop icon Michael Jackson, premiered Monday night. Jaafar Jackson, nephew of the late singer and son of Jermaine Jackson, delivered a transformative performance as his uncle. Siblings La Toya, Marlon, Jermaine, and Jackie Jackson were in attendance, with La Toya noting Jaafar's uncanny resemblance to Michael.

The Jackson family estate was significantly involved in the film's development and production. Producer Graham King confirmed extensive consultations with Michael's siblings, and his son Prince Jackson was a constant presence on set throughout the filming process.

While Prince and Bigi Jackson have actively participated in promotional events, sister Paris Jackson has openly criticized the film. She stated she was not involved after her initial script notes were not addressed, feeling the movie misrepresented aspects of her father's life and catered to a specific segment of his fanbase.

Director John Logan acknowledged that not all family members were keen to participate, respecting their decision. He emphasized that the film aimed to tell an uplifting story of Michael Jackson's triumphs. Reportedly, earlier drafts of the script included child sex abuse allegations, but these were removed following a settlement with accuser Jordan Chandler, necessitating reshoots and a release date change.

Jaafar Jackson described his preparation as a deep dive into understanding Michael's essence, focusing on his heart and how he treated people. Co-star Mike Myers expressed being starstruck by Jaafar's resemblance and portrayal of the pop legend.
