In October 2025, five years after retiring from acting, Michael J. Fox is making a return to television in the Apple TV+ comedy series Shrinking. The show, co-created by Fox's former Spin City colleague Bill Lawrence, features Harrison Ford's therapist character, Dr. Paul Rhoades, who has Parkinson's disease—the same neurodegenerative condition that Fox was diagnosed with in 1991.
After seeing the show, Fox reached out to Lawrence, saying, "You did a show about Parkinson's, and you didn't call me?" Lawrence then developed a concept for Fox to appear in the series, with the 64-year-old actor playing a character with Parkinson's as well.
Fox, who filmed a three-episode guest arc earlier this year, says working on Shrinking was a "great experience" for him. He particularly praises his co-star Harrison Ford, calling the Indiana Jones icon "so real, so giving, so lovely" on set. Ford has also spoken highly of Fox, commending his "courage, fortitude and grace" in dealing with Parkinson's.
While Fox is open to future acting roles, he says he'll "take it one day at a time" going forward. His latest project, the memoir Future Boy, is set to be released on October 14th.
