'Miami Vice' Reboot Slated for 2027 Release with A-List Stars in Talks

In a move that is sure to excite fans of classic 1980s television, Universal Pictures has announced that a new film adaptation of the iconic series 'Miami Vice' is in the works. Slated for release on August 6, 2027, the highly anticipated movie will explore the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami, drawing inspiration from the pilot episode and first season of the original show.

The project has attracted the attention of two major Hollywood stars, with Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler reportedly in early talks to play the lead roles of undercover detectives Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs, respectively. Jordan, fresh off the success of his recent film 'Sinners', is said to be the frontrunner for the role of Tubbs, while Butler, known for his work in 'Caught Stealing' and 'The Bikeriders', is being eyed for the part of Crockett.

Directing the new 'Miami Vice' film will be Joseph Kosinski, the filmmaker behind blockbusters like 'F1' and 'Top Gun: Maverick'. Kosinski will be working with a script co-written by Dan Gilroy, the acclaimed writer and director of the psychological thriller 'Nightcrawler', ensuring that the movie will blend high-octane action with a gritty, morally complex narrative.
