Summary
- Meredith has visions of late mother Ellis Grey and sister Maggie
- Amelia takes a sabbatical to cope with guilt over deadly hospital explosion
- Maggie announces she is pregnant with donor sperm

The landmark 450th episode of the long-running medical drama Grey's Anatomy aired recently, and it was an emotional affair. The episode kicked off with a recurring metaphor from the show - the carousel from Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) childhood, and her mother Ellis' (Kate Burton) famous line "The carousel never stops turning, you can't get off." This time, Ellis appeared to Meredith in an unsettling dream.
Meredith's sister Maggie (Kelly McCreary) also flew in from Chicago to help Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) cope with the grief and guilt over a deadly explosion at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. The blast left several people dead, including Amelia's friend Dr. Monica Beltran (Natalie Morales), and nearly killed the father of Amelia's child, Link (Chris Carmack). Amelia eventually took a sabbatical to "wherever my people are" to process her emotions.
In other developments, Maggie revealed she is pregnant with her first child, conceived using donor sperm. Meanwhile, intern Wes (Trevor Jackson) impressed Bailey (Chandra Wilson) with his medical skills, while Lucas (Niko Terho) and Simone (Alexis Floyd) continued to clash over their personal issues. The episode also saw Teddy (Kim Raver) step back from her administrative duties to focus on being a doctor again.
