Summary
- Actress Melissa Barrera disputes Scream 7's reported box office success.
- Barrera believes the franchise's record-breaking figures were exaggerated.
- She also commented on actors crossing picket lines for the film.

Melissa Barrera, who portrayed Sam Carpenter in the Scream franchise, has publicly voiced skepticism regarding the reported box office performance of Scream 7. In a recent interview, Barrera stated her belief that Paramount "lied" about the movie's record-breaking success, suggesting it did not earn as much as claimed.
The film reportedly opened in over 3,500 theaters and achieved a franchise-record debut of over $63 million, eventually grossing $207 million worldwide. Barrera's comments come after her dismissal from the project prior to its production, following her social media posts concerning the conflict in Palestine.
Barrera also addressed other actors' participation in Scream 7, including original stars Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox. She suggested their return, along with others, constituted "nostalgia-baiting" and implied they were crossing a picket line. However, Barrera expressed gratitude for her two years with the franchise and her collaborators, stating her experience has not been soured.
Since her departure from Scream 7, Barrera has had several other projects, including the horror film Black Tides and The Copenhagen Test. Paramount and Spyglass have since announced development for Scream 8, with Campbell expressing interest in returning.
