Lionsgate has announced a significant revision to its film release schedule for Mel Gibson's upcoming two-part religious epic, "The Resurrection of the Christ." The films will now debut a year apart, with "Part One" scheduled for May 6, 2027, coinciding with the Christian holiday of Ascension. Its sequel, "Part Two," is slated for release on May 25, 2028, over Memorial Day weekend.
This adjustment means that "Part One" will no longer be released shortly before Easter, as initially planned. Instead, the March 26, 2027, release date, which was originally intended for the first installment of Gibson's film, has been assigned to "Day Drinker." This supernatural revenge thriller stars Johnny Depp and will now premiere just before the Easter holiday.
