Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar shared insights on the portrayal of patriotism in cinema, drawing comparisons between her film Raazi and action-oriented movies like Dhurandhar. Speaking on a podcast, Gulzar clarified that characters in Raazi exhibit patriotism equally to those in Dhurandhar. She explained that the expression of patriotism is subjective and does not necessitate overt displays. "Patriotism and prayers don't need volume," she remarked, highlighting that each individual expresses these sentiments uniquely.
Regarding Raazi, released in 2018, Gulzar detailed how the film's protagonist, an undercover operative during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, navigated her mission with a strong moral compass. Gulzar stated that the character's patriotism was limitless, but her personal ethics presented a boundary. Her upcoming directorial, Daayra, features Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
